Exterior lighting serves multiple purposes: it deters unwanted visitors, improves safety around driveways and walkways, extends the usable hours of outdoor spaces, and enhances your home’s curb appeal. Miele Electric Power installs a full range of exterior and security lighting for Connecticut homeowners and businesses, from simple porch light replacements to comprehensive security lighting systems.

Exterior Lighting Services We Provide

Miele Electric Power handles all types of exterior lighting installation across Connecticut. Motion-activated security lights are among our most frequently requested exterior lighting projects. We install floodlights and spotlights at strategic locations (garage areas, entry points, and dark corners) to activate automatically when motion is detected. These are highly effective deterrents and eliminate the need to manually control outdoor lighting. We also install exterior wall lanterns and sconces at entry doors and garage areas, landscape and pathway lighting powered by dedicated low-voltage or line-voltage circuits, dusk-to-dawn photocell lighting that activates automatically at nightfall, string light and bistro light systems for patios and pergolas (line-voltage circuit required for permanent installation), and deck and step lighting for safety. All exterior electrical work uses weatherproof materials and fixtures rated for outdoor use, and Miele Electric Power pulls all required permits for new circuit work.

Site Assessment & Planning

We assess your property's layout, identify the best fixture locations for security and aesthetics, and provide a written quote for the installation.

Permitted Installation

Our licensed electricians install all exterior fixtures using weatherproof materials and methods, with required permits for any new circuit work.

Test & Adjust

We test all fixtures, adjust motion sensor sensitivity and coverage areas, and confirm dusk-to-dawn controls are functioning correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of exterior lighting is best for home security in Connecticut?

Motion-activated LED floodlights are a strong choice for home security. They illuminate unexpected movement instantly, conserve energy when no motion is present, and are reliable in Connecticut’s cold winters (unlike some older technology). Combining motion lights with dusk-to-dawn lighting at entry points provides comprehensive coverage.

Can Miele Electric Power install smart outdoor lighting I can control from my phone?

Yes. We install smart outdoor lighting systems compatible with major platforms including Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit. Smart outdoor lighting allows scheduling, remote control, and integration with other smart home devices.

Do exterior lighting installations require permits in Connecticut?

New exterior circuits require an electrical permit in Connecticut. Replacing existing fixtures on existing circuits generally does not. Miele Electric Power advises on permit requirements for each project and handles all permitting where required.

What other electrical services does Miele Electric Power provide?

In addition to Exterior & Security Lighting Installation, Miele Electric Power is a full-service, licensed Connecticut electrical contractor and authorized Generac generator dealer. Services customers often pair with this project include Generac Generator Installation, Interior & Recessed Lighting Installation, and Ceiling Fan Installation. We can scope any combination of work during a single site visit.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I could not be happier with my experience with Miele Electric Power. From my first conversation with Carl on the phone, I knew that he knew what he was talking about, and there was no high-pressure salesmanship. He took charge of the project of installing my whole-house generator and maintained contact throughout the process. His workers were equally professional. I would recommend Miele Electric Power without qualifications.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The process for getting a generator estimate and its installation was very efficient with Carl Miele and the Miele Electric crew. Carl took the time to explain what our house would need without overselling us (which happened with other electricians). The work was completed efficiently from the installation of generator to the propane tanks to the building inspector’s approval. We are very happy to have chosen Miele electric. We recommend their services and Carl will be our electrician moving forward. We thank his company for their professionalism and expertise.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. So far so good, but with an emergency generator, rubber meets the road when and if there is an issue and the response. However, everything Carl (owner) said he would do on installation and follow through went down just as he said it would. His people could not be nicer to deal with. What made me go with Miele Electric was the number of techs he has on staff. Other companies I priced out and had conversations with had 1-2 tech guys available which is huge when there could be an issue with my generator during a power outage.
Lastly, Miele was the only company of the 4 I entertained that the owner personally was involved from the get go. No leaving messages, getting put to an answering service, having to schedule the initial call weeks in advance, ect. Carl gave me his cell and had a written quote to me next day. As a business owner myself, that is a huge positive.
